Dr. Eichelberger graduated from Princeton University and Hahnemann University Medical School. He completed his surgical education at the Case Western Reserve University Hospital in Cleveland and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with C. Everett Koop, M.D. He serves as a professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and he holds visiting professorships in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia as well as the United States. Dr. Eichelberger is a pediatric surgeon and founder of Emergency Trauma and Burn Services at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. The Trauma Service at Children’s National Medical Center is a world-renowned model of care for children and their families. Dr. Eichelberger is the founder of Safe Kids Worldwide. Founded in 1988, Safe Kids Worldwide has contributed to a 51 percent decline in the child death rate from accidental injuries since its inception.
