Mary graduated from Princeton in 1990, where she majored in English. She then spent a year teaching English outside of Osaka through the Princeton-in-Asia program. Following her year in Japan, Mary matriculated to Columbia Law School, where she received a JD in 1994. She clerked for one year in San Francisco on the U.S. District Court and one year back in her home town of Atlanta, on the Eleventh Circuit. In 1996, she joined her then-boyfriend/now-husband (David Sullivan, Brown ’88) in Boston, where she started her career at Hale and Dorr (now known as WilmerHale).
Mary is now Special Counsel and Deputy General Counsel at WilmerHale. She also serves as Chair of the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers. She was recently named as a member of the transition committee for Massachusetts Attorney General-elect Maura Healey.
Over the years, Mary has been active in Princeton alumni life. She was alumni class president from 1990-95. She was co-chair of her 15thReunion, in charge of children’s activities at her 20th reunion, and currently is co-food chair for the 25th reunion. Mary was introduced to the PICS program by Bill Benjamin ’69, and Mary and Bill have co-sponsored an internship at JumpStart in Boston for the past two years.
