Ballet Theatre Foundation, Inc.

American Ballet Theatre promotes ballet to the widest possible audience. We perform at Lincoln Center for 10 weeks a year as well as tour domestically and internationally. We also have a ballet school. Our annual budget is usually in the $45 to $50 million range. Princeton interns will learn a great deal about not-for-profit experience in the accounting sector and help assist with day-to-day accounting activities as well as help prepare for our annual 990 IRS form.

Internship Description

Our summer intern will benefit greatly because they will be in our shared office space and be able to see and hear all the discussions that go on daily between our bookkeeper, staff accountant, payroll manager, and director of finance. Many different challenges and tasks will be asked of the intern, including analyzing balance sheet schedules, helping with payroll reports, bank reconciliations, and assisting in preparing our annual 990 IRS form.

Internship Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

Most of what is done is hands-on training. It is preferable that the intern have some general accounting or finance knowledge or experience but not required. It is highly recommended that they have a strong interest in accounting/finance, specifically within the not-for-profit sector.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest/experience in finance and accounting.
  • General understanding of Microsoft Excel and ability to learn new software programs
