Organization Description
Intrepid College Prep equips every prepster and scholar in grades five through twelve with the academic foundation, financial literacy, and ethical development necessary to excel in selective colleges, earn professional opportunities, and demonstrate positive leadership.

Intrepid College Prep is a growing network of public “no-excuses” college preparatory charter schools founded to address two interrelated achievement gaps – the academic achievement gap and intergenerational wealth gaps in the communities we serve. In 2017, Intrepid College Prep will serve nearly 500 students in grades 5-9.

Join the founding team of our flagship high school, Independence Academy, which educates students in grades 9-12 in the Antioch community.  In the 2017-2018 school year, Independence Academy will educate 110 students in grade 9.  Independence Academy will grow by one grade each year until we educate students in grades 9-12 in 2020. The launch of our high school model draws upon the successes of our flagship middle school, Opportunity Academy. Intrepid College Prep was recently named a 2015 Tennessee Reward School for Progress and we have received local recognition from Metro Nashville Public Schools as an Excelling School in every year we’ve had the honor and responsibility to educate students.

We make three commitments to every student – admission to selective colleges, preparedness to engage the world as a financially literate young professional, and the cultivation of positive leadership skills.

The work is demanding – it is a tremendous investment of time, energy and smarts but the return on investment is extraordinarily high.

The startup needs for summer 2018 are tremendous.  Sponsoring a Princeton intern will add capacity to our summer operations team and allow us to take on the wonderful challenge and opportunity off adding our second campus. Interns should expect to take on a sizeable project concerned with scaling the growth of our organization by assisting with the creation and development of rubrics and frameworks to ensure systems are consistently delivered at the highest quality on multiple campuses.

Additional Info
The offices for our Network Operations team are located off of Bell Rd.,which is a main commercial stretch in the Antioch area dotted with affordable apartment complexes that offer short-term leases that range from $600 - $800 per month. Living with other interns and/or having a mode of transportation would be helpful.

There may be a few evening or weekend events where the intern's assistance is required.

All Intrepid College Prep employees must complete and pass a Metro Nashville Public School background check and provide proof of TB testing. We can provide financial assistance for the costs of the background check via reimbursement. The intern is solely responsible for the costs of TB testing, if any.

Evaluation Excerpt

My organization did a great job in identifying an area that needed social change... Its students perform much better than their counterparts at other schools.
