Organization Description
With a mission to foster self-reliant families and healthy, sustainable communities, Isles develops cost effective, powerful ways to strengthen people and places in challenging urban settings. Isles programming includes:

  • Revitalize communities by developing green affordable homes, parks, and community agriculture and coordinating efforts that improve social service delivery.
  • Train and educate youth and adults through a vocational school and green job training center.
  • Build wealth by supporting social enterprises and other financial and credit building services.
  • Stimulate green, healthy living by cleaning up environmental hazards, fostering energy efficiency, and promoting healthy lifestyles.  

Internship Description

Position: Community Planning & Development Intern
(Community Development)

The Community Planning & Development Intern will support community development initiatives such as Trenton Arts District Planning; Trenton Neighborhood Restoration Campaign and Trenton Historical Development Collaborative through surveys and/or field research

Position: Youth Services Research Intern 
(Youth Services) 

The Youth Services Research Intern will support the Youth Services goals of Isles through research, database development, networking and external communication strategies. The intern will be asked to participate in and/or help coordinate a variety of youth services events and programs. The intern will also be asked to prepare and/or edit external communications (web or social media) and make phone calls to support a variety of efforts.

Sublets are often available through TCNJ off campus housing.

Occasionally interns will be asked to participate in community events outside of normal work hours.
