Our office is compromised of the Washington, DC staff for Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence. We support the Congresswoman's legislative and communications efforts. Interns play a crucial role in our office. There are typically less than 10 staffers in our office and interns are an integral part of keeping the office running.

Internship Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Scanning voicemails, processing electronic constituent mail, assisting legislative staff with research, attending congressional briefings, participating in hearing preparation, drafting constituent correspondence on a variety of issues, and other duties as necessary.

Internship Qualifications

Qualified applicants should have strong communications skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, possess strong writing skills, and demonstrate a solid work ethic. Interns will be provided with computers to complete official work.

Additional qualifications:

  • Interns with previous policy or government internships are preferred but not required.

Writing Sample Requirement

  • One page sample from a piece written for a class or prior job.
